Frequently
Asked Questions
In this section, we’ll try and answer
some of the more common questions you might have about
power washers and issues relating to the care and operation
of power washers.
» What detergents
can be used with a pressure washer?
Any detergent made for power washers can be used with the
detergent injector that comes with many pressure washers.
Remember, however, that when a detergent is injected into
a pressure washer spray it is automatically diluted at a
ratio of about 15-to-1.

» How does the detergent
injector work?
Detergent never passes through the pump. Instead it is
injected into the spray before it comes out of the nozzle.
An injector works so that when the water pressure is lowered
it automatically suctions the detergent from the jug or
container. When you start up the pressure washer it will
begin suctioning detergent from the jug or container and
mix it with the low-pressure spray.

» Why can't detergent
be used in high-pressure mode?
Because it would require the detergent to flow through
the pump. Many detergents will damage the seals and packing
of the pump causing it to leak or breakdown sooner.
^Top
» Can I siphon water
from a lake or holding tank to operate the pressure washer?
Yes, provided the water passes through some type of screen
or filter to at least 20 micron in size in order to prevent
debris from damaging the pump. Make sure you have a filter
in place before using a non-standard water supply.
^Top
» What are the engine
oil specifications?
All specifications and troubleshooting details on the
engine are found in the engine owner's manual that comes
with each Workaholic pressure washer.
^Top
» What causes a
pulsation in the pump?
Occasionally a spec of debris stuck in the nozzle will
create a pulsating sensation or even an air pocket in
the hose. Remove the nozzle and flush it with water or
air. To remove an air pocket simply pull the trigger gun
and let the water flow for a while and it will clear itself
quickly.

» What is the warranty
on my BullDogPRO™ power washer?
Refer to the owner's manual for warranty specifics, but
generally speaking the chassis and frame have a 3-year
limited warranty, the engine a 2-year warranty, and the
pump a 5-year warranty on the oil end.
^Top
» Can hoses be added to
extend the working distance?
Yes, extension hoses are available. However, a rule of
thumb is that for every foot of hose coming out of the
pressure washer the pressure drops 1 PSI (pound per square
inch) so a 100-foot hose means the pressure will be 100
PSI less than what it is coming out of the pressure washer.
^Top
» Can I run hot
water through my pressure washer pump?
No. Hot water higher than 140°F can potentially damage
the pump. We have a full line of Workaholic hot water
power washer to solve your hot water cleaning needs.
^Top
» How do I attach
a nozzle to the wand?
Pull back on the quick-coupler collar, insert nozzle,
release collar.
^Top
» How far should
I stand from what I am cleaning?
Because pressure washers can damage some surfaces it is
recommended that you stand 4 to 5 feet away from the surface
at first and then slowly move closer to see what the impact
of the spray is on the surface. Always test on an inconspicuous
location.
